How to login to the WX7000 series switches

1.    Different methods to log in to Switch console

Connect the switch and one’s PC with RJ45 LAN cable. One can use any RJ45 port on switch. The default switch IP will be 192.168.0.1 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0

 Note: The switch and one’s system should be in the same subnet.


Open any web browser and enter the IP Address of switch (192.168.0.1 - Default) in URL bar. To access the GUI, enter the credentials for sign in. By default Username is admin and password is admin.

 

1.2  SSH access with Putty

Open PuTTy software and enter the Switch IP in Hostname section and then click on Open. A new command line console will open. Login with default username admin and password admin.  By default ssh connection gives the privileged mode access to switch, if user is configures as a privileged user.

 

1.3 Telnet access via command prompt

First one needs to enable Telnet client on their Windows PC if not already enabled.

 

Note: Using telnet to devices is not secure. It should be used in a network with trusted users.

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Choose Programs and Features -> Click Turn Windows features on or off -> check the Telnet Client option and then click OK.




A dialog box appears to confirm installation. The telnet command should now be available.  One can now access the switch console through telnet connection in command line.

 

Open command prompt, type telnet 192.168.0.1 and press enter.

Authenticate with default username admin and password admin.



By default telnet connection gives the normal mode access to switch.
